On the 28-29 November Russian IT companies – RUSSOFT members (Artezio, Bee Pitron) and RUSSOFT partner of St. Petersburg IT Cluster – St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO), visited number of events in Paris held by IBD and Cercle Kondratieff.
French side was represented by Vice Mayor of Paris - Christian Shate, members of French and Parisian government organizations, President of OW2 (The open source community for infrastructure software) - Cedric Thomas, representatives of two leading IT-Clusters in Paris region (Cap Digital, Systematic), number of research organizations and top-ten Paris universities.
During the two-day event participants discussed the possibility of Russian companies participation in European technology platforms; variants of RUSSOFT cooperation with Parisian IT-Clusters; perspectives of opening Russian software developers offices in France; and also the prospects of cooperation of French IT companies with Russian partners.
Representatives of Russian companies held a number of meetings with their French colleagues.
With the help of colleagues from ITMO were organized meetings of RUSSOFT delegation and representatives from corporations THALES, the European Technology Platform ARTEMIS (embedded systems) and ITEA2 (strategic pan-European program of Advanced Studies in SiSS (Software-intensive Systems and Services).
From the ITEA2 side were identified promising areas for interaction, which include cloud computing, BigData, transport control systems, medical IT applications and others.
Issues of interaction with ARTEMIS technology platform were discussed with the Board member of the platform, the Director of the Advanced Research of THALES Corporation - Laila Gide.
According to Laila Gide, line 2012-2013 is a transitional period for many European institutions, including the ARTEMIS, a strategic program and budget will be created, as well as lists of new long-term projects and initiatives.
Interaction with Russian organizations is one of the priority directions for European technology platforms, but at the system level it is limited by the lack of strategic agreement between the EU and Russia, and for now the problem lies in the political field.
