BANGALORE, February 5 (Itar-Tass) - A number of large American companies wish to become residents of Russia’s special economic zones`, Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref said during a visit to Indian technoparks, Prime Tass reports.

Head of the Federal Agency Supervising Special Economic Zones Yuri Zhdanov added that Boeing and IBM are amongst the applicants.

Telecom and computer companies are the most interested in Russia’s economic zones, Gref said. If Russia had not set up special economic zones, foreign companies would not have invested so much, he said.

Gref visited three technoparks in Bangalore, which develop biotechnologies and software. The Indian technoparks have found a niche for themselves and know how to sell their products, he said. Yet Russia has two advantages – a better-developed infrastructure and better-qualified labor force, he said. Russia may develop unique aerospace technologies, biotechnologies and software and sell them on the international market, he said.
