MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Russia's Information Technologies & Communications market exceeded 1 trillion rubles in 2005, Information Technologies & Communications Minister Leonid Reyman said at a Monday press conference in Moscow.

Software exports rose 50% to $994 million in 2005, he said. The IT market accounted for 5% of GDP, compared to 4.8% in 2004, he said.

The cellular sector rose the most in 2005, however growth could slow down by the middle of 2006, Reyman said. "The cellular subscriber base more than doubled in 2004 and grew 70% in 2005, however we are gradually approaching a saturated market and will gradually see a drop in the rate of new cellular subscribers," he said.

Revenue from new services will likely grow at a fast rate, including that based on EDGE technology, Reyman said. He did not rule out that his ministry could hold the first auctions this year to issue licenses for working with the third-generation standard.

Reyman said there were 2 million new fixed-line subscribers in 2005.
