Star Software CEO Speaks at German-Russian ICT Forum

Nikolai Puntikov, co-founder and CEO of Star Software, spoke at the German - Russian ICT Forum that took place at the CeBIT 2004 fair.

Hannover, Germany, March 22, 2004 - Nikolai Puntikov, co-founder and CEO of Star Software, spoke at the German - Russian ICT Forum that took place at the CeBIT 2004 fair. The event, organized BITKOM, the German IT association, and Fort-Ross under the auspices of APKIT, highlighted the prospects of cooperation between Germany and Russia in the area of computer technology and software development, Presentations by Russian and German speakers gathered the audience of over 130 at the Hannover Convention Center. Star Software acted as a sponsor of the forum.

BITKOM and APKIT, the two countries' leading industry associations, signed a Memorandum of Understanding during the Forum on March 22. In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Willi Berchtold, President of BITKOM, stressed the importance of collaboration with Russian companies for the German industry, and expressed his hope that the forum will mark a change in the nature of cooperation between Germany and Russia - "from a maintenance performer to a solution provider and R&D partner".

The event demonstrated a growing interest in the German ICT industry for partnership with Russian. "Geographical and cultural proximity, world class quality delivered by the Russian providers, and significantly lower costs are the major factors driving the development of German-Russian cooperation in software development. I am convinced that the potential for outsourcing to Russia is yet to be fully seen by the German IT businesses", commented Nikolai Puntikov. His presentation, "Outsourced Agile Development to an Offshore Partner with CMM-Based Process", covered the company's unique and extensive experience of successfully practicing eXtreme Programming within the framework of CMM standards for quality assurance.

Star Software was also represented at the joint Russian Software Pavilion at CeBIT, along with the other members of the Fort-Ross Consortium, and participated in a number of meetings and events.
