Team of St. Petersburg Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics won a gold medal at The 28th Annual ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals held in Prague in the last week of March.

Team of St. Petersburg Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics won a gold medal at The 28th Annual ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals held in Prague in the last week of March. Star Software, a proud co-sponsor of the team, extends its heartfelt congratulations to the winners of the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world.
Seventy-thee winning teams from regional contests have qualified for the World Finals 2004. They were selected from 3,150 teams from 1,411 universities in 75 countries competing at 127 sites and hundreds more competing at preliminary contests worldwide. The teams were offered to solve 10 programming problems in a five-hour contest. Russian participants not only won the contest, but also showed magnificent results: 3 teams from Russia made the Top 10. Besides the team of St. Petersburg Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics winning the competition, the team of Perm State University earned a Gold Medal, and Izhevsk State Technical University won silver.
