MOSCOW, November 5 (RIA Novosti) - At its November 18 meeting the government of Russia will consider a concept of development of the information technologies market, Deputy Minister of Information Technologies and Communications Dmitry Milovantsev said at a press conference.
"It is one of the first cases of consideration of an intrasectoral question at a meeting of the government," the official noted.
Alongside the concept of development of information technologies in regions and the concept of their introduction in the bodies of state authority, the concept of development of the IT market forms the national strategy of development of information technologies in Russia, Mr. Milovantsev recalled.
In his opinion, Russia's share on the world IT market is insufficient. For instance, Russia accounts for 12% of the oil market amounting to $700 billion in terms of value, and for 0.6% of the $900 billions worth information technologies market. "And this despite all market participants admit that Russia is a highly technological country possessing a good potential," the deputy minister went on to say.
He added that Russia's share on the market of software exports ($140 billion) was just over $500 million, though, for example, India, in effect, controlled 25-30% of this market amounting to $20-40 billion.
