The Masters Class sequence will emphasize two themes: planning, as a tool for effective managerial control of software projects, and strategies for managing risk and organizational change. This class will attempt to provide the vocabulary and key concepts behind large-scale systems development focusing on the application of these concepts to real-world systems using a case study. The case study approach emphasizes "learning how to learn" through reading and discussing concepts surveyed in class as they happen in a real world scenario. Case studies help to develop critical thinking and reflective learning in the learner, as well as improve the student's organizational skills and enhance communications amongst participants.
