Software and business associations from four New England states have reached agreement with RUSSOFT - National Software Development Association of Russia to sign a Protocol of Agreement for Mutual Cooperation. Motivated by the spirit of the Russian American Business Dialogue and the ICT Roundtable process, the American and Russian organizations have committed themselves to examining how to increase mutual business opportunities for member companies in both countries.

The New England organizations, the Massachusetts Software and Internet Council (www.msicouncil.org), the Connecticut Technology Council (www.ct.org) and the Software Association of New Hampshire (www.swanh.org) and the Vermont Chamber of Commerce (www.vtchamber.com), represent companies in one of the leading technology regions of the United States. RUSSOFT (www.russoft.org), the leading Russian organization for software development companies, has been active in promoting its member companies in the U.S., Europe and Asia. The U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce of New England, Inc. (www.usrccb.org) has been the catalyst bringing all these organizations together within the framework of the Protocol as a part of its ongoing efforts to promote U.S.-Russian business cooperation.

The Protocol, which will be signed in official ceremonies in the Boston area in late April and in St. Petersburg in June, commits each side to "actively promote the interests of their members in the growing world technology industry and to explore the benefits of cooperation between the technology industries of New England and the Russian Federation."

Joyce Plotkin, President of the Massachusetts Software and Internet Council expressed her support for the Protocol as follows, "In Massachusetts, we consider participation in the global technology community an integral part of our business strategy. We welcome the opportunity to work with RUSSOFT to develop new business opportunities for our more than 3000 Massachusetts companies."

On behalf of RUSSOFT, Valentin Makarov, President, added, "We in RUSSOFT are very proud to sign such a Protocol with such serious IT associations. We see this Protocol as an important tool for joint action to bring mutual benefits. We are interested in promoting cooperation that provides reciprocal benefits for each side, both in the advanced technology markets of the US and in the rapidly growing Russian domestic market. We can all grow and prosper by working together."

Daniel Satinsky, President of the US-Russia Chamber of Commerce of New England, stated, "We want to express our thanks to the organizers of the US-Russia ICT Roundtable for the groundbreaking work they are performing in bringing government and business leaders in the IT sector of the two countries together. We see ourselves as the practical implementers of their objectives in the New England region. We look forward to continuing to help foster the growth of this cooperation in the ICT sectors in the future through the Roundtable process, our Protocol and related activities."
