RUSSOFT - National Software Development Association and Consortium Fort Ross from St.-Petersburg Have Organized the Russian Pavilion at the Comdex-Scandinavia - the Biggest ICT Exhibition and Conference in the Scandinavian Realm
Jan 17, 2003
Comdex-Scandinavia began its path last year under the strong leadership of the Swedish Minister of Industry Mr.Leif Pagrotsky. Last year 260 companies, which took part in the event, and 29000 visitors have brought Comdex to the leading position in Northern Europe.
The recession of the last year has dramatically impacted the market of IT exhibitions. Key3Media - the American organizer of all Comdex exhibitions all over the World is under the bankruptcy procedure. A lot of IT events everywhere in the World were annulled or got to strongly diminish there square. Still the Comdex-Scandinavia keeps the blow. This year even more participants took part in the exhibition - about 290. At 15 panels 81 presentations will be offered to participants of the Conference. Even if the total square was diminished to 30% - about 16000 people have already visited the exhibition for the first two days only.
The Russian Pavilion has increased its square from 40-sq. m in 2002 to 100 sq. m in 2003. There are 8 companies presented at the Pavilion: Arcadia, SoftJoys, Reksoft and STAR Software from St.-Petersburg, PHYSICON and V6 from Moscow, Recognition of Optical Objects from Samara and IBA from Minsk (Byelorussia).
Russian participation in Comdex-Scandinavia is rather impressive this year as we are the third biggest foreign delegation after Israel and Denmark. Mr.Valentin Makarov, President of RUSSOFT, participated the press briefing at the beginning of the event. The second day of the exhibition was officially called the Day of the Russian Pavilion. It began by the press conference for foreign journalists. Then there was a seminar with about 50 people from Scandinavian companies. And finally the Russian party and Reception for VIP guests have finalized the Day. The number of participants in all the events of the Day was very high (for example, usual panel discussions were numbering 10 to 30 people compared to 50 in the Russian seminar).
The Russian participation was recognized by the Swedish officials and media. Minister Leif Pagrotsky has issued an important message to the Swedish IT industry on the pages of the Dagens Industri appealing them to look seriously at tremendous potential of cooperation with the Russian IT business.
