Russian-Finnish Cooperation in The IT Sphere Takes Strategic Shape
Russian Ministry of economic development and trade with the support of Russian Chamber of commerce and industry is holding the "Russian Economy Days" Forum in Helsinki. The Forum is timed to the regular session of Russian-Finnish Intergovernmental Committee for economic cooperation.

The growing Russian-Finnish cooperation in the IT sphere was one of the core topics at the Russian Economy Days which took place in Finlandia Conference Center in Helsinki on April 19-20, 2006.
During the second day of the Forum which this year was co-chaired by the Prime Ministers of both countries, the IT-Roundtable has attracted numerous audience from booth Russian and Finnish sides.
Vice-minister of IT and communication of Russia Dmitry Milovantcev and Finnish Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Pertti Puuro opened the IT-Roundtable where both sides presented exciting examples of mutual success stories.
Mera Networks from Nizhny Novgorod and Tieto Enator from Finland showed a bright case study where technological skills and effective management of Russian software company brought additional value to the services provided by Tieto Enator worldwide.
Peter-Service from St Petersburg shared its experience of providing solutions to the subsidiaries of Telia-Sonera and of Telenor in Russia, Ukrane and in other parts of the Globe.
Reksoft from St Petersburg showed their success stories in providing software services to Finnish companies.
CBOSS presented quite a fascinating example of acquiring an affiliation of Fujitsu in Finland and integrating it in its Nordic development and marketing center. Thus CBOSS, with its 2500 employees has enhanced its position of the 3rd Global IT solution provider for Telecom in their segment.
Speaking at the Roundtable on behalf of RUSSOFT Association, its president Valentin Makarov said: "… the fast growth of the Russian software development industry, which reached $1B of export last year, is creating quite new opportunities for Finnish-Russian cooperation in the IT-sphere. That cooperation bears a synergetic effect to both sides, providing leaders of the Finnish ICT Industry with direct access to sophisticated resources and solutions of Russian software companies and providing Russian growing IT businesses with partnerships necessary for accessing international markets".
He added, the "presented success stories of cooperation between Russian and Finnish leading IT companies will obviously lead to a higher geo-strategic level of cooperation – if Finnish ICT industry wants to keep and enhance its leading positions in Europe".
