Five Russian schools placed in the top 10 at a computer programming contest that took place recently in San Antonio. MIT was the only American team to place in the top 10 at the 2006 Associate for Computer Machinery’s International Collegiate Programming Contest. Teams were given 10 complex problems and then required to use computer programming to solve the problems in a given amount of time. The first-place winners, Russia’s Saratov State University, took about 15 hours to complete six of the 10 problems.
