Toronto, ON, Canada - January 25th, 2005. - MERA Networks, a forefront telecom software consultancy services provider, has announced robust annual results for IT R&D operations in the year 2005.

In 2005 MERA Networks continued pursuing the lines of activities that have long become the core of its business – providing software R&D services in the domains of cellular communications, networks and telecommunications, NGN applications and services, embedded systems, and digital signal processing. At the same time, MERA started unfolding its potential in the area of real-time systems, with a large project for SS7 signaling solutions development, testing and support launched in Spring’05. Totally, MERA has expanded its telecom expertise to embrace all kinds of programming tasks for all types of wireless/wireline enterprise and carrier-grade communication systems, networking and network management solutions.

A Strong Record of Customer Wins

As of the year 2005, MERA Networks received the Nortel Preferred Supplier award for outstanding quality and service delivery performance.

The Preferred Supplier Award has been given to MERA in recognition of its outstanding commitment to delivery of world-class software development, testing and support service, which has been the foundation to the over-a-decade-long partnership with Nortel in the areas of wireless communications, enterprise and carrier grade communication systems.

In 2005 MERA Networks expanded its client base through the award of a telecom R&D strategic partnership contract with TietoEnator - the leading supplier of R&D services for the telecom sector in Europe. Within the framework of this strategic partnership MERA currently provides the complete cycle of development, testing and support services for the TietoEnator SS7 signaling solutions. The scope of assignments to be contracted is expected to grow in the course of the next few years.

"This year will be memorable for the launch of the TietoEnator-MERA strategic partnership. Today, TietoEnator has become MERA’s second largest customer," says Dmitry Ponomarev, President of MERA Group. "Generally, our partners choose us to deliver the highest possible supply chain performance at the lowest total cost. But alongside with that, they appreciate the profound and broad programming expertise offered by our engineers, who come from the very frontline of the Telecom Industry."

Unprecedented Staff Growth

In order to keep pace with the growth of a number of offshore projects developed in 2005, MERA Netwroks assigned its HR team an ambitious task to hire 250 software engineers over the year. With such dynamic manpower expansion accomplished within the set time limits, MERA now employs 750 software engineers.

"For us, quantity never makes sense without quality," comments Igor Bebeshko, HR Director for MERA Networks. "We at MERA hunt exclusively for candidates that best meet our hiring criteria. MERA’s staff can boast of a high level of professional education, with some 80% engineers holding MS degrees in technology or science. Besides, we provide for professional growth of our staff by intensive training in English, programming technologies and other areas relevant to the company’s core activities. Staff development programs are the cornerstone of MERA's expertise and the driving force of its progress and success."

Quality and Service Excellence

MERA has been keeping its ISO certification up to date with two regular external audits in 2005.

In 2005, MERA NN R&D Division of MERA Networks has successfully passed two regular audits by the Russian Division of BSI Management Systems to validate ISO 9001:2000 accreditation for its quality management systems. The auditors acknowledged a high level of QMS implementation and maintenance at MERA NN R&D. Further, inspections are scheduled to follow on a yearly basis.
