Boeing first came to Russia in 1991 to model designs in a high-end wind-tunnel facility. Over time, the aircraft and aerospace leader would build partnerships that involved refined Russian titanium products, and eventually took advantage of huge Russian industrial presses that could turn complex U.S. riveted components -- like 737 aircraft bulkheads -- into much larger, lighter and less expensive parts.
