Electronics Cluster Announced in Northwest Russia

May 24, 2013
GS Group, a privately held multisectoral international holding originating from Russia that develops high technologies globally, has announced plans to establish the Technopolis GS electronics cluster by 2017 to be located outside Kaliningrad in Northwest Russia, NanoNewsNet.ru reports.

The Technopolis GS project is said to be based on a number of multi-sector GS Group owned production premises in microelectronics and nanotechnology that have been operating since 2008 in the town of Gusev, in the eastern part of Russia’s westernmost enclave region of Kaliningrad.

The cluster will reportedly include an industrial area, R&D and training centers, a business incubator, and a venture fund. The investor is expected to create as many as 5,000 new local jobs and bring European IT experts to train regional specialists.

GS Group also has plans to build a residential area with cottages and apartment buildings for 4,500 Technopolis GS employees and their families over the next five years in Gusev, as well as a number of urban infrastructure projects.

GS Group is an international multi-sector holding with Russian capital, which focuses on the telecom and other innovation markets.
