Mar 28, 2014
The center is focused on training highly qualified programmers in the areas of information storage and processing in accordance with EMC best practices, and supporting promising students and joint research. The new center will allow both professors and students at STU to more easily attain EMC Proven Professional certification and EMC Academic Associate qualification.
The EMC St. Petersburg center, which is housed at the Polytechnic’s Institute of Information Technology and Management was established as part of an agreement on the joint development of IT education signed in December 2013.
Cooperation between EMC and STU began more than six years ago. The establishment of the new center is the result of the ongoing relationship that saw a steady increase in collaborative student research projects, long-term research and development projects, and grants and fellowships.
Headquartered in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, EMC established its presence in Russia in 1993 and opened its St. Petersburg R&D center in June 2007. EMC Russia employs hundreds of professionals and has offices in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and Novosibirsk. Since 2000, EMC Russia has successfully completed thousands of projects for local companies from a variety of industries. In 2009, the Federal Assembly of Russia recognized EMC as "Best Employer in Russia."
