Vladimir Litoshenko, Star's .NET developer, made a keynote address on ".NET products protection. Obfuscation" at the 7th meeting of St. Petersburg Microsoft User Group Association held in St. Petersburg last week.

In his speech, Vladimir Litoshenko highlighted the key methods for code protection in terms of IPR, reviewed the latest obfuscation tools that offer the most sophisticated technologies to protect .NET code. Microsoft's .NET platform provides a high degree of power and flexibility. Unfortunately, that flexible design inherently produces a problem for those wishing to hide their program's intellectual property. Obfuscation tools transform .NET assemblies in such a way that decompilation of the new format would result in source code that is extremely difficult to understand, and virtually impossible to recompile.
