Ural Federal University (UrFU) in Yekaterinburg, in the Urals, has launched its own 100kW Data Processing Center. It’s a new tool for local researchers to tap into when doing scientific work, the UrFU website announced.
The engineering infrastructure in the new Center is smart enough to control temperature and humidity, and has three independent power supply sources, UrFU said. The equipment installed there is said to be safely protected from adverse external radiation.
One of the first residents in the new Center is the chair of high-capacity computer technologies at UrFU’s Institute of Mathematics and Computer Sciences. The state-of-the-art equipment will be used to develop their project called "Personified heart models", an effort that is aimed at modeling the activity of the human heart when a patient has some diseases. UrFU has been doing research on this project in partnership with Belgium’s Ghent University.
