Students from the St.Petersburg Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics won top honours at the the Association for Computing International Collegiate Programming Contest, the world's largest and most prestigious computer programming competition.

Students from the St.Petersburg Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics won top honours at the the Association for Computing International Collegiate Programming Contest, the world's largest and most prestigious computer programming competition held on March 31, 2004, in Prague.
Teams represented 73 universities from 31 countries. During the five-hour "battle of the brains" the teams of three students were fighting against 10 complex, real-life problems, writing and testing software.
Besides the winner this year's top twelve teams also included Belarusian State University, Perm State University and Izhevsk State Technical University.
