The Fourth consecutive "Russian IT Season": Russian software development leads to the North

The Fourth consecutive "Russian IT Season" will be held in Northern Europe on November 10-11. This time the road-show of Russian software companies will visit Finland and Sweden. That will be a rare chance to meet well-known leaders of the Russian software development market (primarily from St Petersburg which has undoubtedly become the key-point of Russian software industry within the last few years).

The very idea of organizing "IT seasons" dates back to the early years of the last century when Russian entrepreneur Diaghilev was promoting Russian Ballet in Europe while organizing the so-called "Russian Ballet Seasons" (more information about the IT-Seasons may be found on the web-site www.it-seasons.ru).

The main inspirer and organizer of Russian IT Seasons - Consortium "Fort-Ross IT Services", St Petersburg. This road show is not the first event organized by Fort-Ross in Scandinavian region, but the biggest one. Eight Russian software development companies (Arcadia, Digital Design, Itetco, Qbix, Reksoft, SoftJoys, Star Software and TekLabs) will participate in a 2-days long event. The program includes presentations and B2B meetings in the beautiful Capitals of the neighboring Nordic countries: in Helsinki on November 10 (at Finpro Building Porkkalankatu 1, in Ruoholahti area) and Stockholm on November 11 (Rum 12 pÅ Hovslagargatan 5 (Blasieholmen) at the IT-Foretagen).

The main goal of the road show is to demonstrate the benefits of "technological partnership" with Russian software development companies. Many well-known corporations in Europe already use benefits of placing their software development to Russia and using the brainpower of Russian mathematicians and software engineers.

Valentin Makarov, Fort-Ross president: "We have been very active in Nordic countries in 2000-2002, thus creating a visibility of Fort-Ross and of the Russian IT industry as a whole. IT-crisis has largely spoiled results of that activity and we were to change the vector of our marketing towards USA during the last year and a half. Now we return back to our near-shore market where new prospects for a larger cooperation in software development have shown good signs of recovery after the recession was slightly leaving the space to the growth.

To our great satisfaction the seeds are giving flowers now. There is a net increase of interests to Russia as to a viable and competitive partner in software development outsourcing. That is why we are leading to the North. And we are happy, because we are also Nordic".

Vera Semyonova, Fort-Ross executive director: "During the road show we shall share our experience with referring to concrete examples of such co-operation and will let you learn how the partnership with Russian software companies was helping our Western colleagues to develop better software, to solve IT problems and to reach the Global market goals.

Fort-Ross is creating the bridge between Nordic customers and Russian developers. Having deep knowledge of the Russian software development market and being the acknowledged marketing arm of All-Russian IT Associations RUSSOFT and APKIT, Fort-Ross will assist foreign customers in selecting potential vendors and in finding partners for ventures."

The main partner for the organization of the IT-Season in Sweden is the IT-Foretagen (www.itforetagen.se), while the main partner in Finland is FINPRO (www.finpro.fi).

At the special web site developed for all the road-shows within the Russian IT-Seasons (http://www.it-seasons.ru/finland/) there is a registration area for Scandinavian participants. More than 60 companies, including such well known names as SAS, Nokia, Tietoenator Oyj, KnowIT, Jeeves, etc. have already registered for participation in the Russian "Nordic IT-Season".

Mass media representatives are also welcome to make registration for participation in the road show. For more information and accreditation, please, contact Tatiana Goryachikh, Fort-Ross PR-manager ([email protected]).
