U.S. & European VIPs Are Highly Impressed by Russian IT Outsourcing Industry

That was not the only witnessing remark of those who have been impressed by Russia's great capabilities of providing IT services. This month 13 high IT Executives from US and European industries leaders visited St-Petersburg, Russia, to discover the potential of cooperation with the Russian high tech community.

ExecutEVE - the First Exclusive IT Outsourcing Event for International IT Executives in Russia – was organized by RUSSOFT Association (largest Association of software companies in Russia & CIS) together with Fort-Ross Ltd - its Marketing and Event Agency. Event took place with a great success on December 4-7th, 2005 in St. Petersburg at Grand Europa Hotel.

The ExecutEVE brought together high Executives from US and European Fortune 500 and 1000 listed companies and the leading Russian software outsourcing service providers. Among the delegates participated were different vertical industries' leaders, including: Banking and Financial sector (Washington Mutual Bank, Union Bank of California, BISYS Hedge Fund Services); IT and Software (BMC, Riverdeep); Consumer Package Goods (PepsiCo Inc.); Healthcare (Meriter Health Services); Publishing, Media and Education (The McGraw-Hill Companies, Bright Horizons); Chemicals (Chemtura Corporation).

The best of the best Russian IT Service Providers, frequently quoted in the World analysts' reports as Russian IT leaders, participated in the event: VDI, Kvazar-Micro, EPAM Systems, Luxoft, Reksoft, DataArt, StarSoft Development Labs, ELEKS Software, eVelopers, ITCI, Lanit-Terkom.

The ExecutEVE program has combined wide educational seminar program and pre-scheduled B2B meetings, where participants had been discussing the opportunities of further cooperation. The seminar part was opened by Steve Chase, President of Intel Corp. Russia, who introduced a case study on "establishing an R&D center in Russia". Intel R&D center in Russia is known to be the largest research center of this company outside the U.S.A. Pascal Matzke, principal analyst of Forrester Research, made an analytical review on "Russia's competitive market position compared to other offshore geographies". Legal aspects of software development in Russia were reviewed by Olga Mischenko, DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary. Tuesday session was opened by Mr. Andrey Koshkin, Advisor to the Russian Minister of IT and Communication, who has made an overview of the Russian strategy in the IT sector. During the networking session over 65 one-to-one business meetings took place.

Fantastic cultural program had been offered to participants in St-Petersburg, Russia's cultural center and one of the most beautiful cities in the World. The program included tour to the city of Pushkin with visiting Catherine Palace and its famous Amber room, riding Russian Troikas and Folklor show, Night of the Opera and Ballet performance done by staff of the famous Mariinsky Teather at the Usupfov Palace and others.

The event showed that more and more global companies look at Russia as an alternative for other IT Outsourcing destinations.
