Russian students are among the top three Universities honoured in the Association for Computing International Collegiate Programming Contest, the world's largest and most prestigious computer programming competition.

Students from the Moscow State University and St.Petersburg Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics are among the top three Universities honoured in the Association for Computing International Collegiate Programming Contest, the world's largest and most prestigious computer programming competition held on March 25, 2003, in Beverly Hills, California.

Teams represented 70 universities from 25 countries. During the five-hour "battle of the brains" the teams of three students were fighting against 9 complex, real-life problems, writing and testing software.

The winners are the teams of the Warsaw University (9 problems solved), Moscow State University (8 solved), and St.Petersburg Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics (7 solved). The seventh place was taken by the Saratov State University.
