The overall effort calls for the creation of another state-of-the-art campus of Ural Federal University (UrFU), an UrFU-focused high technology park, as well as innovation and industrial sites

The regional authorities reportedly expect the project to help address important issues, such as the region’s competitiveness, investor attractiveness and export capability in nanotechnology, IT and telecom, instrumentation, electronics, energy saving, mechanical engineering for the energy sector, and alternative energy.
At the inception phase, the Technopolis project is expected to create more than 700 high-capacity local jobs, with the possibility to boost the number to as many as 2,000 in a near future. According to local forecasters, high technology park residents will be able to put together and complete more than a hundred innovation projects, generating sales revenues of in excess of $55m a year.
The Ural University Technopolis endeavor is estimated to cost a total of around $39m, with the federal center and the region kicking in on an approximately par basis.
