StarSoft Opens Development Center in Ukraine

The leading Russia-based software outsourcing provider continues aggressive growth by expanding into Eastern Europe.

Nov 02, 2005
Boston, 2 Nov 2005 - StarSoft Development Labs, premier Russia-based software outsourcing provider, has opened its new development center in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. This move has been caused by the company’s growing client portfolio and the need to expand the pool of resources. Headquartered in Cambridge, MA, StarSoft has been growing its revenues and headcount at about 80% a year since 2002, so the expansion into Ukraine is in line with the company’s overall growth strategy.

"The needs of our clients and the growth of our operations in 2005 have caused us to open our first development center outside Russia,"said Nikolai Puntikov, StarSoft’s CEO. "Ukraine is a natural choice for us because of its strong educational system, abundance of qualified workforce, and competitive cost. The option to implement our client’s development projects in Ukraine makes us more competitive, and access to the Ukrainian labor market as well as the Russian one increases our chances of getting larger contracts. Ukraine’s swift integration into the European community will also be beneficial to companies that are represented there".

StarSoft becomes the first software outsourcing company from St. Petersburg, Russia to open a development facility outside the Russian Federation. Several projects for StarSoft’s existing customers have already launched in the Ukrainian office. The facility currently employs 25 engineers, with plans to boost that number to 50 by the end of Q1 2006. StarSoft’s global headcount now exceeds 400. In 2005 StarSoft expects to record revenues of over $10.5 million, a 79% increase from 2004.
