Business angels and government to discuss early-stage innovation support

Ways of supporting Russian innovation projects at early stages will be a key topic for discussion at the 2nd Russian Business Angel Week later this fall

Sep 20, 2013
Many experts believe the government should reconsider its priorities in innovation support and increasingly favor pre-seed and seed stage projects because the business angel community thinks this is a key prerequisite for the fostering of Russia’s high-tech sectors.

"During the Week, we will put together a long-term strategy for Russia’s early-stage VC investment market development and outline ways of smoothly integrating the Russian investment community into the pan-European one," said Konstantin Fokin, the president of Russia’s National Association of Business Angels (NABA).

The 2nd Russian Business Angel Week is slated for September 30 through October 6. It will cover more than 30 regions of Russia and is expected to bring together in excess of 2,000 private investors, major high-tech business players, government officials, Russia’s development institutions (such as RVC, Skolkovo, Rusnano and others) and Russian and international experts in early-stage venture investing.
