STAR Software Launches FlexODC at COMDEX Scandinavia

Dec 19, 2002
STAR Software, Russia's leading offshore outsourcing services provider, will launch FlexODC, a new concept in Offshore Software Development, at COMDEX Scandinavia, January 14-16, 2003, Gothenburg, Sweden.

Unlike the traditional Offshore Development Center, FlexODC does not require a long-term commitment to fixed levels of staffing or infrastructure.

"FlexODC has been especially designed for Global 2000 companies," said Nikolai Puntikov, STAR Software's CEO. "These companies have an ongoing, baseline need for software development, but must inevitably manage unexpected or seasonal peak workloads. Our model offers them a stable, core team of developers and project managers with customer-specific business knowledge, and with whom they have established a close working relationship. When peak business pressures arise, the company's core team is ready to manage an expanded staff, easily and inexpensively, often with only two weeks notice."

STAR Software has been quietly providing flexible ODC services to selected clients across the U.S. and Europe for more than ten years. Now, with the official launch of FlexODC, more companies can benefit from STAR's cost-saving and secure approach to software development.

"We are ready to support CIOs and IT project managers in Scandinavia and from around the world. No project is too large or too small," Puntikov stated. "Our flexible ODC approach, operational in St. Petersburg, Russia since 1991, ensures that our clients achieve economies of scale. Our long relationship with CSC Denmark is one very good example of the kind of win-win situation we can build with each of our clients."

At COMDEX, Puntikov will deliver a presentation entitled: "How To Build ODC in Russia, a Case Study: Six Years of Successful Collaboration between CSC Denmark and STAR Software". Seminar attendees will learn the specifics about setting up in Russia with STAR and streamlining their software development through FlexODC.

The presentation takes place on January 15th at 16:00 in Conference Hall G2 of The Swedish Exhibition & Conference Centre, Gothenburg. STAR's presentation is part of the COMDEX seminar series "Information Technology-- The Future of Russia", showcasing new Russian government and private sector initiatives in IT. Participation is free; registration is currently open at www.fort-ross.ru/comdex/seminar.
