Jun 17, 2004
St. Petersburg, Russia, June 17, 2004 - Star Software acted as a Silver Sponsor of the Russian Outsourcing & Software Summit (ROSS-2004) held in St. Petersburg on June 9-12, 2004.

The forum, formerly called Software Outsourcing Summit, gathered more than 450 participants from 26 countries this year. Along with the software outsourcing providers from Russia and the CIS, the Summit has attracted representatives of major international research organizations (Gartner Group, Meta Group) and world IT market leaders such as Borland, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, SAP, Siemens, and many others.

As an important highlight of ROSS-2004, the representatives of Fort-Ross and RUSSOFT once again informed the media of the merger of the two organizations into a unified national association of outsourcing software development companies. Nikolai Puntikov, Star Software CEO and the Chairman of RUSSOFT, was one of the initiators of the merger and has been taking an active part in consolidation process. "The new unified association should focus on strengthening Russia's appeal and raising the awareness of the Russian IT industry on the global outsourcing arena. The new association will also be more effective in lobbying the Russian government for legislative changes that would affect the industry positively", said Puntikov at the meeting of the Press Club during the Summit.

At the Summit, Nikolai Puntikov moderated the panel, "Leading international executives discuss challenges and opportunities of Russian software industry". In the session, representatives of Intel, Trestle Group, and TietoEnator shared their experiences of working with Russian outsourcing providers. "I am pleased to see the Summit, which our company has participated in from the very beginning, grow in significance and attendance each year", he said. "It provides a great discussion forum for those interested in advancing the industry, and a marketplace for potential buyers to find worthy partners in Russia".
