Cisco Connect Moscow: Tomorrow Starts Here

Held from Nov. 19 to 21, the first Cisco Connect Conference on Information and Communication Technologies (formerly Cisco Expo) was attended by 3374 IT professionals, analysts and journalists setting a new attendance record and confirming its reputation as the largest ICT event in Russia and the CIS.
The official program included more than 150 presentations, sessions and demonstrations of the latest developments from Cisco and its partners in the 10-minute process streams: The Infrastructure of Corporate Networks, Wireless Networks, Solutions for Telecom Operators, Data Centers, Technology Collaboration, Network and Information Security, Optical Networks and Systems, Network Management, Data Centers – A Platform for Business, Step by Step Design of Distributed Networks and Contact Centers. In addition, flows such as Education in the 21st Century, Information Technology in Health Care and workshops for operators were held. A separate round table was devoted to women in the IT industry.
An exhibition was held throughout the conference where new items were presented by Cisco and its partners. Cisco held demonstrations in eight Demo Zones: Network and Information Security, Network Management, Corporate Network Infrastructure, Data Centers, Solutions for Telecom Operators, Wireless Networks, Technologies for Collaboration and CCTV Technology and Physical Access Control. On the last day of the forum a demo was also organized on data centers. A separate stand at the event was devoted to the activities of Cisco Technologies and the Skolkovo Open in June 2013. In addition, stands 18 of Cisco’s partners were presented.
During Cisco Connect Moscow, the interactive Cisco Social Media Studio was launched, where event participants were able to ask questions to Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) and discuss various issues with colleagues from the field of network technology in a relaxed atmosphere that provided track information about the ongoing forum in different social networks.
For the convenience of conference participants, the Cisco Connect Guide application was developed, designed for iOS and Android smartphone users. The application was downloaded 965 times. The app allowed visitors to see the schedule of events, the location of halls, the biographies of speakers, receive information about conference sponsors as well as to evaluate the performance of speakers. The app contained 2,277 profiles.
Visitors to Cisco Connect Moscow also had the opportunity to participate in the "King of the Hill" contest organized by Cisco and SkillFactory, and in the reality show "Troubleshooting: The battle with Stress" conducted by the Microtest training center and the creative team from ESSSE.
Cisco Connect Moscow was broadcast online to 588 people who, for one reason or another, could not attend the event in real time allowing them to see the opening of the forum, as well as the Network and Information Security (Nov. 19), Data Centers (Nov. 20) and Infrastructure of Corporate Network (Nov. 21) streams with the help of Cisco’s WebEx technology.
Using the same Cisco WebEx technology, participants of the educational initiative Cisco Expo Learning Club organized a virtual day on the eve of the opening of the conference. Representatives from Cisco authorized training centers and the educational initiative partners from Cisco Expo Learning Club held a series of presentations and demonstrations dedicated to virtualization, collaboration, information security, wireless networks and innovative teaching methods. The event was attended by 453 members of the club.
In anticipation of Cisco Connect Moscow, the World Trade Center held the Careers in IT conference, created to attract students to the field of information technology after graduation. 77 students from institutions of higher and specialized secondary education in Russia participated in the event.
43 sponsoring companies, including Cisco Capital, were actively involved in organization and management of Cisco Connect Moscow.
The conference was supported by 70 media outlets from Volgograd, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kazan, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Samara, St. Petersburg, Ulyanovsk, Ufa and Chelyabinsk. The general media partner was TASS-Telecom. Business Magazine published the conference’s official program.

80 journalists from Moscow and a number of Russian regions attended Cisco Connect Moscow for which a press conference was held to announce the expansion of Cisco’s local production in Russia.
Roundtables on cloud services, solutions for telecom operators and the role of IT in enhancing the competitiveness of the university, as well as numerous interviews were also held.
Students from the Cisco Networking Academy worked on the preparation and management of the conference, to obtain invaluable practical experience under the guidance of experienced engineers. Participants were able to leave their wishes on a wall designated for the purpose.
In addition, the badges of foreign visitors were equipped with RFID tags, which allowed the organizers to determine the most popular streams and demonstrations. These data will be taken into account by the organizers for Cisco Connect Moscow 2014.
