Alexis Sukharev, President and Founder of Auriga, Inc., was one of the keynote speakers at the First Russian-German Symposium on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The First Russian-German ICT Symposium was held in the framework of the InfoCom 2002 Exhibition on October 22-23, 2002, under the umbrella of the Ministry for Communications and Informatization of the Russian Federation. Dr. Alexis Sukharev addressed the audience with a speech "Russia: An Emerging Partner in Strategic IT Outsourcing" at the plenary session of the forum.

Russia and Germany are going to undertake real steps aimed at the development of their cooperation in telecommunication and information technologies. The Symposium Organizers were the Ministry for Communications and Informatization of the Russian Federation and the BITKOM Association, Germany.

Development and general application of the ICT is a global tendency of the 21st century, and, guided by this tendency, Russia has started the Electronic Russia 2002-2010 Federal Program. This program will give a strong impetus to the implementation of information technologies in every segment of the Russian society. The development of Russian information society should be accompanied by the integration of Russia into the international information society and hence into the world economy. Russia's largest economic partner is Germany, which successfully implements its own Federal Program Innovation and jobs in the information society of the 21st century. It is absolutely evident today that allying the two countries' potentials in ICT will give tremendous possibilities, and the main objective of our Symposium was therefore to organize mutually advantageous cooperation in the field. The Symposium helped the two countries determine the focuses of this cooperation.
