STAR SPB Takes Part in Software Outsourcing Summit 2002
Jun 05, 2002
St-Petersburg, Russia - STAR SPB, a Russia's leading software development company, announces its participation in Software Outsourcing Summit 2002.
The last year conference, in which STAR SPB participated as well, attracted about 300 participants from 22 countries of the world who represented Western companies interested in cooperation or looking for potential partners in Russia, Russian software development firms and associations, and IT companies from the former Soviet Union republics. Managers of top Technical Universities and R&D Institutions of Russia, Government officials and members of Russian Parliament also participated in the forum.
As Nikolai Puntikov, the STAR SPB's CEO, has commented: "We consider the Summit a "must participate" event and we expect that the conference will clearly show how the market will evolve further. The past year has been a critical period for everybody involved in this business. The ongoing recession in the US economy and the last fall geopolitical crisis have negatively influenced the outsourcing market. Many have suffered losses in their clientele. And we are proud to say that we have even managed to increase our client base by penetrating new strategic markets, including Sweden".
Indeed, the past year was full of events. STAR SPB started a new and ambitious project for CSC: a legacy migration of a system that is currently functioning in 40+ hospitals in Scandinavia, established a new Offshore Development Center for its key client in Belgium and signed a contract with a company involved in the planning and deployment of a 3G mobile network in Sweden. In October 2001 STAR SPB also launched Outsourcing-Russia.com, a non-profit portal that strives to promote the Russian software development industry on international markets and to attract potential buyers of software development services to Russia. In April 2002 the company passed a CMM pre-assessment procedure by Quality Assurance Institute (India) and continues its preparations for the official assessment scheduled for the beginning of 2003.
Mr. Puntikov will present an overview of the STAR SPB and CSC cooperation in his speech "CSC Trusts Russian Programmers, a Case Study: Six-Years of Successful Collaboration with STAR SPB"
