Russia should establish itself as a highly developed hi-tech economy, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov told a government meeting Thursday, Oct 12. He said that the cabinet was to discuss the draft federal target program for the research and development of Russia's research and technology complex for 2007-2012.

This program is to serve as a basis for finding solutions in such high priority industries as nanotechnology, rational nature management, living systems, and promising energy and information technologies. "We expect the program to change the fundamental structure of the Russian economy and help switch it over to a stable innovative development model," the Russian PM said.
