During a press conference Russian Information & Computer Technologies Industry Association (APKIT) and German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media e.V. (BITKOM) signed an agreement of partnership and cooperation.

During a press conference and in the presence of the Counselor of Russian embassy in Berlin Mr. Alexey Savinsky and Deutsche Messe AG Vice President Ernst Raue Russian Information & Computer Technologies Industry Association (APKIT) and German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media e.V. (BITKOM) signed an agreement of partnership and cooperation.

From German side the agreement was signed by Ulrich Dietz, a BITKOM Board member in charge of international cooperation and from Russian side – by Valentin Makarov, RUSSOFT Association President, APKIT Board member, Head of software development and export committee.

According to the agreement the parties give the status of priority to the mentioned partnership of 2007, officially announcing Russia a BITKOM partner country, and Germany a partner of APKIT.

As follows from the text of the memorandum APKIT and BITKOM are going to run another negotiation round in order to define the catalogue and program of events and projects to be realized under the partnership.

The Associations expect to examine juridical, institutional and financial factors impeding further development of cooperation between Russian and German ICT companies. The new partnership intends to take decisive steps towards elimination of such barriers by providing the Governments of both countries reports on the research.

The parties have welcomed Deutsche Messe AG suggestion of Russia’s participation in the world’s greatest ICT tradeshow CeBIT 2007 with a special status of a partner-country.

The collaboration presupposes preparation of joint projects within the framework of Russian exposition participation in the tradeshow. Specifically the partners plan to organize Russian-German IT-Forum with high governmental representatives form both countries, organize 4 specialized seminars on such issues as outsourcing, creation of IT-parks network in Russia, security and enterprise management. The parties expect participation of highest governmental authorities from Russia and Germany during the ceremony of official opening of the tradeshow and Russian-German IT-Forum. Moreover, APKIT and BITKOM intend to organize a special "Russian Route" along CeBIT 2007 fairground providing a wide delegation of Russian companies in at least 4 thematic pavilions.

Besides the wide range of events during CeBIT 2007 tradeshow APKIT and BITKOM plan to organize road-shows of Russian companies in Germany and German companies in Russia, mutual participation of Russian and German companies in expo-conferences in both countries. Great efforts are paid to attract German financial institutions and companies to participate in creation of IT-parks in Russia and Russian Investment IT Fund.

Information & Computer Technologies Industry Association (APKIT) concentrates efforts of individual companies into consolidated opinion of the branch through negotiations with public authorities. The Association defends the interests of the IT branch and favours the expansion of the market.
