Compass-EOS Announces R&D and Sales Unit for Russia

Compass-EOS, a U.S.-Israeli networking company, has announced plans to open a new R&D and sales center in Moscow

"The Russian market holds tremendous potential, with large scale operators bringing in next generation technologies to support its immense communications and Internet traffic growth, resulting from large social networking and cloud computing players increasing their network capacity requirements." said Andrey Kushnarev, Managing Director, Venture Capital, RUSNANO. Internet traffic in Russia is expected to continue to dramatically grow and Russian network operators are facing the challenge of efficiently scaling their network capacity to meet demand.

"Bringing in an innovator such as Compass-EOS, with the technology to bring millions more online through greener and faster networking, transformative routing is a great contribution to the Moscow tech scene," said Kushnarev.

RUSNANO joined as a new investor in Compass-EOS in the company’s recent round of financing announced in November 2013.

"Russia is well known for its excellence and innovation in photonics, and we expect this new R&D center to further expand our icPhotonics innovation capabilities," said Dr. Michael Mesh, Chief Scientist and Co-Founder of Compass-EOS. "We look forward to partnering with local Russian companies and institutions both on technology development and market penetration opportunities."

The company says that the Moscow office will be led by Michael Galkin, who will assume the role of Compass-EOS Russia Director General. Galkin has an engineering background in electronics with 40-years of international experience in sales, business development and investments within the technology and energy sectors.
