The Challenge

Adaptation of corporate application for mobile sales - MARS (Mobile Automated Retail Sales) used by P&G worldwide to specifics of Russian and Ukraine business environment (currency, business rules etc). MARS is a sales support system developed by Procter & Gamble, which is used in all offices of Procter&Gamble in CEEMEA region in order to automate wholesaling of Procter & Gamble products from minivans. The front office part of the system is implemented on PALM handheld systems and supports a complete field sales functionality. In order to use this solution in Russia and Ukraine, it was necessary to handle a number of localization issues and implement some additional functionality. According to results of a contest, Aplana Software was elected partner for fulfillment of that project.

The Solution

The project involved an adaptation of the original solution for using in Russia and Ukraine (localization issues, implementation of several special functional options), regular versions update and delivery as well as hotline user support. Special tools for enabling planning, configuration and change management ensured effective communications within the project and make it fully transparent and controllable. End users were allowed to register the errors and modification requests directly into the Change database on the Aplana’s server - it shorten drastically the time required for new versions acceptance and the response time for each particular request.
