Project Title: Albatros Golf Management System
Albatros is a major producer of golf club activities management systems. The main product of the company Golf Management System is currently installed in more than 400 golf clubs of Western Europe and Asia.
The Challenge
In September 1999 the main product of Albatros Datenservice - Golf Management System - was installed in about 280 golf clubs of Germany. The system had been initially developed by Albatros cmpany itself. Later the development had been subcontracted to a remote team of Portuguese programmers. The quality of their code was very low. As a result, the product was unstable and required considerable enhancement. In addition, it was necessary to port the system to Win32 platform.The Solution
After preliminary discussions and a personal visit to ContekSoft facilities in Tomsk Albatros decided to outsource the development work to ContekSoft company. The project began from 2 months of on-site work of 2 ContekSoft programmers in Germany. They undertook a thorough analysis of the system and proposed ways of product improvement. Since that time the project team grew and now includes 6 developers. They rebuilt the system fundamentally, enhanced its functionality, added more modules. Besides, ContekSoft initiated the development of AlbComp components resulting in increased performance quality of the code of Scripter module which provided the compatibility of various database versions.Now Albatros Golf Management System consists of 6 modules: Members (list of club members and guests), Reception (POS-system based on TouchScreen UI), Competition (tournament data processing), Gastro (serving restaurants and cafes), Portman (serving some types of members cards) and Leaderboard (competition reports for e-boards).
The system is characterized by the high level of stability and is used in more than 400 golf clubs worldwide. Albatros has become the largest European provider of golf automation software systems. The share of the comapny in the German market only is about 50%.
