Project Title: My Mobile World - MMW

The Challenge

The customer is a large seller of accessories for mobile phones and PDA, which has a wide net of shops, storage facilities and bespoke processing center (payments, shipping). Distributor wanted to unify the selling process as well as the process of order refinement in the existing sale net and to extend its dealer net via Internet sales. The aim was to achieve new business model in order to simplify dealer's work.

The Solution

We have created an automated eProcessing Center - process payments, delivery, storage facility management.

The developed solution allows to set up e-shops for dealers with opportunity to customize visual appearance, prices, goods catalogue. Order request of any dealer is processed in the eProcessing Center.

Dealers are provided with the services that allow creation of affiliate nets within the framework of the shops.

Logical View:
System uses multi-tiered distribution business model as illustrated on the diagram above. Every Sub Dealer represents online Super Store with possibilities to manage catalog, which is a subset of the parent Master Dealer catalog. Every Super Store has customized look & feel. Customers can only buy products thru these Super Stores, not directly from Master Dealer. Sub Dealers use all their marketing possibilities to promote the Super Stores, including one level below distributors: Affiliates and Sub Agents. Modular architecture, created by BACUP IT, allows this system to be easily upgraded or integrated with third-party services (online payment systems, shipping services, importing orders from external stores, etc).

Deployment View:
Application's backend, web server and PHP interpreter engine run on application server. The back-end communicates with database using database-specific protocol. Back-end sends notification emails to the users based on different system events. System users use web browser based interface and HTTP protocol (HTTPS for secured connection) to access application server. PDFLib used for online PDF documents generation by users request. It communicates with PHP engine via native interface.

Overview of vertical design:
The application is implemented with the modular approach, allowing scaling and modules substitution. Back-end is written on the PHP, so system is simply portable on any platform, which runs PHP. Back-end includes modules for:

• Abstract interaction with database, allowing easy porting to another RDBMS
  
• HTML building using object API
  
• GUI look & feel customization for different stores
  
• Online PDF documents generation
  
• Client-side checks using JavaScript
  
• Cron-based periodic tasks executing
  
• Yahoo-style catalog export for synch with Yahoo stores
