Project Title: OCAP Test Suites
The Challenge
The OpenCable initiative, managed by CableLabs, was begun in 1997 with a goal of helping cable industry deploy interactive services over cable. OpenCable will provide a set of industry standards, which will help accomplish this goal via three key objectives to:- define the next-generation digital consumer device,
- encourage supplier competition, and
- create a retail hardware platform.
Main challenges:
- development of Test Suite for OCAP platform
- development of tools required for instant automatic update of the test suite after changing specification (that allowed to have up-to-date version of the suite in situation when specification is continuously evolving)
- refinement of OCAP specification working draft
The Solution
With Consult IT Now assistance, our Client and OpenCable delivered a high-quality Test Suite according to their plan after specification release in June, 2004. Our Client also significantly reduced development costs. Tools developed by our team will help design and develop tests for upcoming changes and future releases of the OCAP specification. Our team gained valuable experience on OCAP platform and testing methods that brought to a new level productivity of iTV laboratory and quality assurance department.Tools and Technologies
