Project Title: On-Line Gaming and Banner System

The Challenge

Fresh Games wanted to build an on-line gaming portal but didn't have enough development resources to handle the task. They needed to find a consulting firm that could take their high level ideas and implement them into a powerful system. Having been referred to us from another client, Fresh Games hired Jentek to work closely with their technical architects to design and develop the entire system.

The Solution

For Fresh Games, we developed the front and back-end of an on-line gaming and related services portal. This portal was designed to operate as an Application Service Provider (ASP) so that web site owners could host a games section on their own site. Visitors to these web sites can access single and multi-user on-line games.

The portal can contain many different sub-sites, or "hosts." Each host can operate independently within the system's framework. The system provides access through special administrative interfaces to a common set of components, such as Banner Ad Display, User Chat, Mail List, Tracking of User Points and Activities, Advanced Statistics, etc. Administrative users of these sites can freely customize the games, look and feel, content and the behavior of the common components for their sites.

All of these functions are provided through a common database and common application server algorithms.

Tools and Technologies

The implementation of the system is based on the latest J2EE technologies using Orion Application Server and a PostgreSQL database engine.
