Project Title: ASIC Design Center
The Challenge
To create a center committed to work in close cooperation with Nortel R&D laboratory on long-term projects, primarily in the field of telecommunication ASICs for multi protocol switches from the scratch. Nortel set a very strict hiring policy and high requirements to the experience of personnel both theoretical and practical. All necessary engineers were found by SPIRIT in a short period of time. The Solution
In 1997 SPIRIT successfully created DSP Center for Nortel Networks from the scratch, which has successfully accomplished 14 DSP software projects between 1997 and 2000. In 1999, as a result of successful cooperation in DSP software development between Nortel Networks and SPIRIT, Nortel made a decision to organize ASIC design and verification Lab under SPIRIT management. SPIRT successfully solved security and intellectual proprietary issue. All the facilities have combination locks and strict limited access. The center has its own LAN with a secure channel to the Nortel laboratory. All the engineers signed Non-Disclosure-Agreements. Periodically, a special supervision regarding security issues is carried out.ASIC Lab proved to be a success and functioned until May 2003 since 1999. Mid November 2002 SPIRIT and Nortel celebrated 5 years of non-stop working together
