Project Title: Laboratory Information Medical System
One of the leading providers of innovative medical equipment to hospitals and medical facilities.
The Challenge
Delrus, one of the leading providers of innovative medical equipment to hospitals and medical facilities, believes that medical laboratories will only be able to meet the growing needs of patients by fully automating testing and analysis procedure. This was one of the main reasons why it partnered with ProgrammLine to deliver a world-class medical laboratory system, tailored to meet the unique needs of its flagship diagnostic center - Laboratory XX1. When implemented the system not only automated analysis procedures, but also provided a comprehensive technological environment to support the laboratory’s most critical business functions. To be able to meet the growing needs of its patients, Laboratory XX1 needed to address challenges around two areas: building efficient patient-centric processes and establishing effective communications with insurance companies and suppliers.
The other major issues included:
- Multiple, disparate results databases
- Low turnaround rates due to time consuming and complex, manual workflows at every stage of the cycle from test application to results delivery
- Manual registration of test applications and biomaterials
- Manual distribution of test assignments to analysis processing units
The Solution
To meet the customer’s unique business objectives ProgrammLine proposed a solution that married both hardware and software component subsystems: physical servers, interfaces, auto-analyzers and data capture tools with a programming environment, which supported both the technical hardware and processing of captured data.Additionally, the management team of Delrus mandated that the solution should be suitable for other laboratories in the same group. Therefore, it was required to:
- Support laboratory equipment interfaces
- Enable scanning of patient and test assignment data
- Allow importing of external data
- Identify and record analysis assignments
- Support modular and highly flexible operation
- Be easily integrated with additional hardware equipment
- E-business applications for laboratory’s personnel, enabling them to register, distribute and download patient’s and analysis data
- E-business applications to manage organisational structure: laboratories’ departments and processing units, personnel, restrictions of user access
- Data warehousing function: management of associated and main directories: clients/treatment facilities, patient groups, biomaterials, microorganisms, tests, business objectives
