Project Title: Distributed Storage Management System
The Challenge
The Distributed Storage Management System (DSMS) is a licensed product that is built on client-server architecture and performs storage management functions including backup/archive and restore/retrieve in a multi-platform networking environment. Launched in 1995, the project deals with DSMS testing in OS AIX operating system. The Solution
The IBA team is composed of 20 dedicated experts who provide support, enhance functionality, develop test cases, and perform system testing for DSMS. The IBA responsibilities include:- Assistance in the initial processing of Customer Problem Report to identify the problem source (software product)
- Analysis of Customer Problem Report and problem fixing in DSMS modules
- Development of test scenario and test cases
- Installation verification, system verification, and functional verification testing
- Design and development of new functions and features in line with the project plan.
IBA provided high quality support to DSMS users across the world. Analyzing the problems, making appropriate changes in the program code, as well as testing thoroughly the new versions, IBA provided for higher quality and reliability of the system. For instance, in 2004 IBA analyzed and processed more than 1,000 Customer Problem Reports and fixed problems in DSMS functionality and efficiency. IBA developed more than 100 test cases and performed testing of new system versions on each operating platform. The system functionality was expanded to include dozens of new features and operating modes that meet user needs and expectations.
