The Challenge
Johnson&Johnson is a multinational corporation producing health care products and pharmaceuticals with operation across the globe.Johnson&Johnson Russia was looking for a proper platform to ensure automation of internal corporate processes. The main requirements to platforms were as following:
- A solution compliant with corporate MS technologies standards.
- Further system development option by Johnson&Johnson specialists.
The Solution
In 2008 Digital Design delivered a project tî a Russia-based branch of Johnson&Johnson aimed at automation of taxi orders processing and based on MOSS and DocsVision (a proprietary document and business process management system of Digital Design). The customer chose DocsVision platform enhanced with MOSS functionality. Being 100%-compatible with all Microsoft products DocsVision is used as an ideal workflow-system enabling complete cycle of taxi orders processing, while MOSS is used as a thin-client providing user-friendly web-interface and documents storage for the company employees. Order templates are stored and managed with Microsoft Office InfoPath Form Services which makes it possible for users to fill out the forms in a Web browser.
Automation of taxi orders processing was a pilot-project calling upon verification of the chosen platform efficiency to ensure further business-processes automation. Digital Design team spent 3 months on the customer’s requirements specification and analysis, designed solution architecture and perfomed DocsVision and MOSS deployment. An existing sluice was used for proper DocsVision and MOSS integration.
Taxi-orders processing structure presumes the following steps: J&J staff-memebers fill-in orders at the corporate portal with the orders further shipment from the portal to a proper user via e-mail. At the order full-cycle processing finalization a report is created and stored in the system. The system deployed at the moment covers 350 users, with up to 150 users working at the same time.
Johnson&Johnson Russia management highly appreciated the results of the pilot-project and decided to undertake step-by-step migration of other corporate business-processes to the deployed and approved system architecture.
