The Challenge
Our customer needed a complete programming library for WAP Browsing.The Solution
Experts of Softage have implemented the solution. It is a multi-platform WAP Browser to enable PC, PDA, Mobile phones users access and view the Web sites that use the Wireless Markup Language. The WAP Browser interface is similar to that of a conventional Web browser. The WAP Browser supports bookmarks, page saving and printing, user defined home and search pages, proxy, http and WAP Gateway, dial-up, cookies, multi-language interface.The Internet connection can be established either directly via HTTP or through a WAP Gateway.
Traditional web-services are provided in HTML format, and mobile services (WAP) in WML or xHTML-MP (Mobile Profile). Traditional web browsers like MS Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox do not fully support the WAP format, so in order to have access to WAP pages you must have a WAP enabled browser. WAP Browser is especially designed to provide a comfortable and user-friendly experience when browsing mobile content.
Browser is available for Windows, Windows CE and Windows Mobile platforms.
After first release, the customer requested continuation of the project. Now it is an ongoing project, including development of innovative new features, solution migration to new platforms and support of dozens thousands of users around the globe.
The Browser exists in OEM version and is widely used across the globe. Reference customers’ list includes such companies as T-Mobile, Motorola, Swedish Coast Guard and Spar Nord Bank to name a few.
