Project Title: Employee Health Monitoring System
The Challenge
The Ministry of Railways employs over a million people throughout Russia and has its own healthcare facilities that gather multitudes of employee health and workplace safety data. The Ministry's Employee Health Research Institute wanted a way to centralize employee health data from all these sources and analyze relationships between employee health and workplace conditions. This information would then be extremely valuable in determining which workplaces need to be made safer for employees. The Solution
E-Style Software built a database-driven system that allows researchers to gather the relevant data on employees and workplaces from the Ministry's various locations. The data comes from more than 10,000 sites across Russia and is collected in 500 data centers and 10 regional railroad centers linked by high-speed communication channels with a central data center in Moscow. Data is put it in a structured format, and sent to the central processing facility for analysis and reporting. The system links information on employee health records, their workplaces, and any health problems they may have. Researchers can then analyze where employees with specific health problems worked and which workplaces may be unsafe, and then correlate that with the information of other employees to develop patterns and, ultimately, solutions for improving workplace safety.Benefits:
- Provides researchers a unified framework for biomedical research - linking employee and workplace data from disparate locations
- Enables detailed pattern analysis, so workplace health risks can be found and fixed quickly
- Reduces research costs - allowing primary research to be conducted centrally without having to go out in the field
- Allows researchers to analyze data based on specific employee, health condition or workplace location
- Provides an advanced security mechanism for maintaining confidential employee information
- Reporting and analysis function generates reports and trend analyses on-the-fly based on location-specific data
- Ability to synchronize multiple databases across various locations
- Metadata (such as disease classifications) stored in XML for easy modification
