Project Title: PCN - Product Change Notification system
The Challenge
A world leading manufacturer of computer equipment needed a system to track its business critical notifications. With a long list of products and an even longer list of suppliers, distributors and contractors it was hard to keep track of who had been sent important information regarding product and policy changes such as notifications declaring the date the manufacturer would cease to support certain legacy equipment.The system should be flexible, scaleable and built using the latest development and design standards.
To solve the problem, LUXOFT, together with the customer's UK division, designed the PCN (Product Change Notification) system. Based on the project's scale it was decided that LUXOFT would employ the extreme programming development methodology.
Coordination between the LUXOFT team and the client's project managers was seamless with only a few hours time difference between their locations. To improve communication between the LUXOFT development team and the customer, daily meetings via teleconference were held. To further increase productivity and reduce costs WebEx technology was used.
The Solution
In less than two weeks of development, LUXOFT delivered a secure, manageable, scalable product notification system enabling the client to keep track of all business critical notifications to its worldwide network of suppliers, distributors and contractors.The use of the extreme programming model led to the cost effective and rapid completion of project, including maintenance and handover, in just over two weeks.
