The Challenge

OMS2 Software, Inc. has been developing Windows- based software for home healthcare agencies since 1993. Customer needed a module that would allow both automatic and manual scheduling of nurses' visits in accordance with care plans, nurses' shifts, mileage from office to the patient etc. Besides complex functionality it had to be very convenient and have MS Outlook look and feel.

The Solution

We developed a scheduling solution based on the Microsoft Visual Basic and Outlook Style components. The system has interfaces for doctors and other medical personnel. It allows doctors to create assignments, check completion, and make journal entries. The system helps automatically find personnel for new tasks based on their actual job load, skills, etc. Nurses can check their assignments, make journal entries, submit reports. The module implements more than 80 use cases and employs more than 50 screen forms. It also supports extensive reporting capabilities.

Tools and Technologies

  • Microsoft VB,
  • Outlook Style,
  • MS Access,
  • MS ADO,
  • Crystal Reports.
