Project Title: Navio
The Challenge
Navio Systems has developed proprietary technological solutions for rights-based e-commerce. These solutions will allow companies to buy and sell rights and not just files. This approach implies the need to make digital commerce even more flexible, simple and inexpensive. An end-to-end suite of rights-based commerce products for content owners, resellers and consumer aggregators must also be provided, and the underlying technology, "Rights-over-IP" (Rights that can operate over the Internet and Web services) must be fully developed. Navio approached LANIT-TERCOM to cooperate in further developments of this product. The Solution
In a short period of time the Lanit-Tercom team was able to understand the needs of the client, and began implementation of "AV Catalog" – a core part of it’s AV Commerce suite of services. In a few months the first version of the required application was completed. This version introduced a significant change from the prototype in that it enabled large data sets of items to be loaded into merchant’s (application users) catalogs. Based on this, Navio is able to make agreements with large media companies and content providers. After only a 6-month development period, the product was released into production. Now the Lanit-Tercom team is developing the second generation of AV Catalog, which is a platform for further developments that will meet the growing requirements for this product. The platform is built on SOA, and implements new technologies such as Ajax in the client-side tier.
