Project Title: Automated Performances Management System for Mariinsky Theatre

The Challenge

Founded in 1783, the Mariinsky Theatre is one of the oldest music theatres in Russia and the biggest opera and ballet theatre in Saint-Petersburg. In 2006 the Mariinsky Theatre received monetary grant under «Economical development of Saint-Petersburg» project, and this money were invested in development of Automated Performances Management System.

The establishment experienced difficulties with planning of repertoire considering interests of all stakeholders. There was a need to improve quality of planning and management processes using actual and structured data. However, there were no ready software packages available on the market suitable for theatre business processes.

The Solution

Automated performance management system provides complex automation of theatre business processes. System users can get required information both directly from their work places and remotely via web-access.

System includes the following modules:

• Web-access subsystem,
• Report generation subsystem,
• Alert and notifications sending module,
• Performances management and performances creation modules,
• Demonstration management module,
• Repertoire and finances management subsystems.

System is working 24-hours a day and consists of Windows-application and a Web-application.

After system implementation, the planning processes efficiency was considerably improved:

• Gathering of information among theatre departments was optimised;
• Routine operations number was reduced;
• New performances creation management efficiency was improved;
• Performances Data Base was created for convinient use.
