Project Title: BrandRoads.Com
The Challenge
SUI International is a US company that supplies promotional items all over the world. The company carries out a full cycle of works: from developing the artwork to shipping the finished products to the clients. Any company is able to implement its marketing strategies through SUI International's assistance, high-quality services and a rich choice of products. Among SUI International's customers are large international companies operating in many industries.Expanding its business, SUI International is committed to improve its business processes by transferring some of them into the Internet. The company's managers believe that the development of e-business will give SUI International new competitive advantages.
The challenges:
- Create an e-commerce system for companies in any part of the world to place an individual order for promotional items, pay for the products and monitor the status of their order 24 hours a day and 7 days a week;
- Decrease the workload on SUI International's managers by enabling the clients automatically to calculate their orders considering individual preferences and amounts (each kind of products is to have its own cost-calculating formula depending on the product features).
- Enable SUI International's managers to control the orders via web interface;
- Create a evolving and scalable technological platform designed to match customers' new functional requirements and an ever-increasing workload;
- Integrate the developed software system into a company's existing technological environment.
The Solution
Having studied SUI International's business requirements, we decided to develop an original system fully adapted for SUI International's specific business processes.The created B2B system supports all the stages of handling a client's order: from initial enquiry, identification of detailed requirements to the order and getting the price to monitoring the status of an order that may be delivered to any place in the world.
The calculation section for the cost of the order is an important element of the system. The calculation formula is individual for every king of products and depends on the amount of the order, specific ways of putting the logo, number of colors, technologies selected and other factors.
A special administrative web interface has been developed to control the system. This interface enables several managers from different company offices to control the orders. The system-deployment plan stipulates several phases. New functional features will be added in every phase. One of the phases stipulates integration of the BrandRoads web site with the customer's CRM system.
Tools and Technologies
Java, XML, XSL, Macromedia Flash, SSL, and the PostgreeSQL database have been used to implement the system.The system is designed to operate with the most popular web browsers including those that work on the Mac OS platform.
