The Challenge

Today, in the beginning of the 21st century, many companies that in early 1980s had switched to 'paperless office' solutions now face the serious problem of preserving vast amount of data they accommodated during these years of paperless work. There are many points to consider, including data formats aging and becoming obsolete, and, as such, unreadable and almost unrecoverable, media aging, so that data recorded on a brand new discs today would be impossible to read in the future as there will be no players for these discs, and many others.

Since it is impossible to preserve everything, there should be a simpler solution. Electronic-discovery tools typically convert documents to a common data format for viewing but carry with them important metadata, such as when and where they were created. Documents can be searched using keywords, then categorized into subsets.

For 93% of all new data is created digitally it's necessary that law firms and corporate counsel employ an effective e-Discovery strategy to retain the integrity of their digital documentation archives.

An industry leader in providing e-Discovery solutions, CaseData Corporation contacted Intelsys with request to develop an e-Discovery system capable of high volume distributed conversion of multiple office file formats into TIFF images.

The Solution

First of all it was necessary to obtain a clear understanding of the existing systems in order to formulate the correct requirements. According to the Rational Unified Process methodology used throughout Intelsys's development process, representatives from both sides worked closely to refine every possible detail of possible hardware and software solutions. Intelsys's specialists evaluated several systems, options and alternatives that could satisfy all of the stated requirements.

The final product is 3d-tier system, capable of complex distributed industrial-scale processing utilizing COBRA technology, highly customizable and ready for industrial use.

Unlike many other tools our conversion process does not require installing special software and perform 10x faster than any other tool.
