Next month RVC, Russia’s fund of funds for innovation, and the Higher School of Economics are launching their joint pilot training program to help corporates manage their own VC funds, the RVC website announced.

The program is designed to aid big companies that are considering doing venture investing. Training starts on September 17; applications for participation are welcome through September 14.

Large corporations are a considerable source of funding for start-ups; and many of these would launch corporate VC funds as a way of accessing potentially disruptive technologies in their respective markets. However, an array of legal hurdles and a noticeable lack of specialists in project portfolio management often prevent corporates from setting up funds.

The authors of the program are offering team format training, with each company sending three employees with different skills, including R&D policy development, investing in innovation projects, and GR responsible for raising investment for a fund.

Following a theoretical course, program participants will be able to travel to Germany for on-the-job training.
